Devdaya charitable trust was formed in 2004, by doctors in the UK to provide Education and Healthcare for under privileged children in India. Our activities are primarily concentrated in promoting healthcare and education in Gujarat.

We commenced our activities in 1985 and since then have built and repaired 11 Primary and Secondary  schools,  a Technical College and Computer  Centre  in Rajkot District, Gujarat. We have also started a primary healthcare centre after the earthquake in 2001 in Gujarat. Devdaya refurbished the N.R.Doshi Eye Hospital in Wankaner, Gujarat with modern surgical equipments and it was officially opened by the Lions International Vice President, Lion Ashok Mehta.

Since 2008 our main focus has been the prevention of childhood blindness in Gujarat. In year 2009 we built specialist Lions Club Of Enfield children’s Eye Hospital in Wankaner. This unit is the first children’s eye hospital in Gujarat and also recognized by the Gujarat Government. We are also associated with LV Prasad eye instituteI in Hyderabad. We have nine Mobile Eye clinics across the state which screen children in village schools every day and provide basic treatment immediately. They also provide glasses to correct refractory error in association with the Government programme. Children who need surgery are referred to our children’s eye hospital.  All medical and surgical Eye care is totally free of any charge and moreover parents are given lodging or boarding in the hospital. We are very fortunate to have the support of the Lions Clubs and Rotary Clubs in England and in India. Working alongside the Enfield Lions Club and the Mayflower (Billericay) Rotary Club, one of our principal aims is to cut out unnecessary “middlemen” and ensure that all funds raised make their way directly and without any administrative cost deduction to our projects. We are also being funded by Central and Gujarat Government of India.

In 2011 we have started Way made school of ophthalmic studies for paramedical training and since 2013 have been associated with Vaduwallah eye hospital in Baroda to provide free medical and eye care for children. After success in Saurashtra, we are starting a similar set up in Central Gujarat at Karmasad, Goraj, Baroda, Mandvi(Surat), Mobha road.

With the support of charitable organizations, government and our donors we aim to provide free medical and surgical eye care for children of whole Gujarat. By 2015 we intend to commission total fifteen MOBILE EYE CLINICS and three major children medical and surgical care hospitals in Gujarat. These hospitals shall give medical treatment of high standards without any charge.

We can achieve our aim by joining hand with N.G.O. and nonprofit organization. We would like to partner with such institutes to spread our work across the state. We can arrange funding for Mobile Eye clinic that can be operated by such institutes across the state. Such Mobile Eye clinics can be used for to screen eye ailments amongst school children as well as adults in villages.

Our vision year 2020 is to have least number of avoidable childhood blindness problem in Gujarat compared to other states in India.
